Beautiful Birthday

Today's card is a combination of old and new products.  I've been doing the daunting task of reorganizing and sorting through years of products in my craft room.  I have so many retired items that I need to either give away or sell.  I came across this beautiful 12x12 piece of designer series paper from long ago.  I'm sorry but I don't remember the name, but I knew I loved it.  It just so happens that the colors in the paper match perfectly with some new products we have in our annual catalog right now. So, I combined the paper with a new stamp and die set bundle, ribbon and Stampin' Blends.

The card base was also laying at the edge of my desk, and it wasn't even a full sheet.  It was a black piece that measured 5-1/2 x 5-1/2 and was already scored at 1-1/4.  This was the perfect size to add a piece of 4 x 5-1/4 designer paper and adhere it to the 1-1/4 side.  This makes the paper stand out as the card "front" and when you open it, you are greeted with the other side of the paper. I used the beautiful Spotlight on Nature Dies to make the sentiment circle.  That pretty little daisy is from an old Paper Pumpkin stamp set as well as the sentiment itself.  I colored the daisy with Daffodil Delight, Peach Pie and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends.  Those little dots of gold were made using our Metallic Enamel Effects Basics.  I actually squeezed drops of all 3 colors in the set (gold, copper and silver) onto my Silicone Mat and let them dry overnight.  In the morning, I had 30 beautiful little embellishments! All you need is Tombow Glue to add to your project. A piece of Bordered Ribbon in Peach Pie accents the focal image.

I like to decorate the inside panels of my cards when I can.  When I cut the 12 x 12 designer paper into several 4 x 5-1/4 pieces, I had several little 1 inch pieces left to decorate the inside.  I'll be making three more of these cards, although I might change up the focal point image.

You can re-create this card in no time.  Go ahead! Cut up that retired paper and dust off your old stamps and use them.  I know I'm a paper hoarder and I really should practice what I preach.  I will admit though, that it felt good after I made this card and I'm inspired to make more.

So, tell me, when you clean your craft room, do you make discoveries of items you forgot you had? Isn't it like Christmas or your birthday all over again? 😉 The only problem I have is I get so sidetracked it takes me months to get the job done! 😄  Leave me a comment and tell me what your best craft room organization tip is. I could sure use some tips!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you enjoyed your visit. Until next time, enjoy your day!
