Today is a Sunflower kind of day. Sunflowers are such happy flowers, aren't they? I just read an article called "10 Glorious Facts About Sunflowers". I learned that the very young buds will actually turn their little faces to the east in the early morning, and will follow the sun until it sets in the west. This is known as "heliotropism". As they get heavier during seed production, the stems become stiff and not as pliable, so they mostly face east all day. There's 9 more fascination facts in this article, so feel free to Google it. Fun! Here's my card:
My cardbase is our new Cinnamon Cider, with a layer of Early Expresso. The flowers were stamped on Sahara Sand card stock, using the beautiful new stamp set called Celebrate Sunflowers. I stamped with Memento Black and colored the flowers with our Watercolor pencils. I did not use water though; I merely colored them using Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and White on the edges of the petals for more depth. The centers were colored with Early Espresso and Black. The leaves were colored with Garden Green and Old Olive. The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso and a few of our gold pearls were added for sparkle.
Let me know what you think. Is this a set you'd love to have for your own? It comes in a bundle with a set of wonderful dies, so you can easily cut out these beauties.
